If you’ve ever seen a group of bikers, then you know how intimidating those leather-clad, jean-wearing group of big bearded men and tough women look. But these often large and loud groups of people are quite frequently softies at heart if you get to know them.
All the members of BACA or Bikers Against Child Abuse have a tender heart for children who grew up in terrible situations where they are abused. While they may have compassion for the children, these bikers show no such thing to the perpetrators who abuse children. That’s why when BACA rolls up to an abused child’s home, they finally feel safe – sometimes for the first time in years.
Committed to helping children feel cared for and safe, BACA members commit to protecting threatened children around the clock. If they need an escort to get to school or to the courthouse, BACA is happy to provide that. If they need the biker gang to roll up in their driveway and keep watch all night to make sure the abuser doesn’t come in and try to hurt anyone, these tough men and women are more than happy to do that.

At a moment’s notice, the members of BACA are ready to come to the rescue of an abused child.
BACA members are guardian angels that help abused children move forward and trust again.
“Our mission is to empower these children, allow them not to be afraid of the world, to stand up to the abuser and say you can’t do that me. I’ve got friends, I got backup; if you try to do that to me, you’re going to have go through us,” the Missouri chapter public relations officer, Mopar (the members use ride names for security purposes) told Columbia Magazine.
Although these bikers might not look like angels, they have come to the aid of countless children over the years and all over the country.
For example, when 10-year-old FA was set to testify against her stepfather, who had made it a habit of abusing her, BACA came to make sure she could sleep soundly. They set up a watch and made sure the criminal stepfather didn’t come back to enact revenge on the poor little girl.
Now FA has grown up to be a lovely young woman. And she credits a lot of her success to the support of BACA.
“They stayed there in shifts … all night long … all day long …” recalled FA’s mother in an interview with Yahoo.
Because BACA was there every step of the way, FA was able to find strength to move forward. She has worked her way through the terrible abuse she was forced to take from her stepfather. BACA helped her recover and showed her that she had a lot of strength within her.
“BACA pretty much turned me into the woman I am today,” she said to Yahoo, “I’ve been able to overcome so many things I know I wouldn’t have been able to without them.”
